We are thankful to everybody who helps us improve the BibleTime software, it's documentation and it's translations.

Basic Steps

The following are necessary for each type of team member. Please follow them!

  1. If you do not have an account on SourceForge, please sign up for one. It is free. We need your username to add you to the team members list, to assign tasks to you, etc.

  2. Subscribe to the BibleTime development mailing list. All developers read this mailing list, so everybody knows what is hapenning. There is also a mailing list for the commit messages of the ongoing development process.

  3. Get the development version of BibleTime and install it. If you need help with this ask on the mailing list or look into the documentation section.

Next Steps for Developers

  1. Work through some of the Qt4 tutorials to get accustomed to programming with the tools BibleTime uses.

  2. If you do not know what to do please ask on the mailing list for some tasks. Do not forget to add how difficult it should be.

Next Steps for Documentation Authors

  1. Read the existing English documentation. It is located in the docs/ directory of the bibletime repository.

  2. The documentation is stored in docbook format in the localized subdirectories of each documentation part (handbook and Bible study howto). Please do not edit the HTML files directly because they are generated from the docbook files. The translation files are also generated from the docbook data.

Next Steps for Translators

  1. Have a look at the internationaliziation pages of the KDE project. They are located at http://i18n.kde.org.

  2. Install the program Lokalize, if it is not yet installed on your system. It will help you a lot with the translation process.

  3. Read the page about translating BibleTime.

  4. Subscribe to the bibletime-translations mailing list.

For Everybody (regardless of participation level)

  1. Join us in IRC! We can be found on the FreeNode Network, in the #bibletime room. If you do not have an IRC Client you can use the FreeNode Webchat.

  2. Sign up for an account on our wiki, and make your contribution there.
